Research Manager

I graduated with bachelor’s degrees in speech pathology and behavioral sciences from Purdue University in 2014. While I initially went to school to become a clinician, a passion for research sparked in me while working with a professor who was investigating sleep disruptions as a possible early indicator of autism spectrum disorder in young children.

Since then, I’ve worked in a variety of research settings and topics – academic research on communication interventions for young children with disabilities, market research on accessibility issues of mental healthcare, and text data mining projects to quickly detect patient satisfaction with their healthcare – before coming to UIC.

I’ve spent the last 5 years working with Dr. Simon Pickard and Dr. Todd Lee investigating the effectiveness of academic detailing (an individualized educational intervention for healthcare providers) on opioid prescribing, and subsequently its impact on the opioid overdose epidemic in the state. I volunteer as a crisis counselor for Crisis Text Line (CTL) in my spare time and have strong interests in mental healthcare accessibility and disability advocacy. I’m excited to be working with Dr. Watterson and her projects on occupational fatigue and health informatics!
